DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, "Mermod & Jaccard's St. Louis Paragon Time-Keeper" with hourglass image to mvt and dial, Grade 943, 21J, 18S, gold-filled original HC with attractive engine turning and engraving detail, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, narrow stripe pattern nickel damascene, gilt mvt screws and regulator assembly, mirrored gilt disk surrounding balance jewel setting, s#239012. A beautiful original example of this rare watch. The "Paragon Time-Keeper" was made by Hamilton for Mermod & Jaccard in four grades of 21 jewel movement (940, 941, 942 and 943) as well as two grades of 17 jewel movement (926 and 927), and these watches have a unique appearance with their distinctive hourglass logo to dial and movement. The Grade 942 and Grade 943 version are the finest quality of these "Paragon Time-Keeper" grades and are the only version to feature gilt screws and trim. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, scratch to plate between edge of regulator index and plate edge, few mild micro-fine scratches elsewhere; nearly flawless dial with fine scratch at signature and few micro-fine scratches elsewhere; nearly mint hands; case shows hardly any wear, some fine scratches to exterior, notch filed to opening lip of rear lid and some marring to remainder of rear opening lip, some fine scratches to cuvette from slipped past openings, no dents or dings, excellent engine turning and engraving detail; bow pivots semi-freely, crown shows very little wear; good glass crystal.
